Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has reminded couples â apparently with too much time available for them together at home as Davao City implements community quarantine â not to forget the importance of planned parenthood.
Mayor Sara, in an interview with Davao City Disaster Radio, said stay-at-home partners are encouraged to use protection to avoid unplanned pregnancies.
She said the Covid-19 pandemic is not an excuse for couples to forget about family planning.
The City Government of Davao has included condoms in the food packs it has been distributing to Dabawenyos as relief assistance because of the crisis brought by Covid-19.
She said responsible parenthood and family planning remains on the campaign of the city government amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Do not be surprised if there are condoms in our food packs because we have asked them from the Department of Health for our Pagbabago Campaign. The campaign has been suspended, so we included the condoms in the relief goods instead,â the mayor said.
Mayor Sara asked those who received condoms to give the family planning material to others in case they are not useful for them.
The Pagababago Campaign has targeted women and children in the barangays â with the objective of inculcating the value of education among children and the importance of planned parenthood among women and their partners. CIO
