Raising the possibility of contracting coronavirus from Food and Medical (FM) pass, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte wants law enforcers, security guards and others in the front lines to practice a no-touch rule of passes at checkpoints and establishments.
“We’d like to remind our frontliners, ‘no, dinha sa checkpoint, sa atoang mga security guards sa atoang mga establishments, ayaw ninyo guniti ang FM pass—ang passes sa mga tao because this can transmit kagaw (We‘d like to remind our frontliners at the checkpoints, and the security guards of our establishments, do not hold the FM passes of the people because this can transmit the virus),” Mayor Sara warned.
She also called on civilians not to let anyone touch personal FM passes, instead to just present the passes at eye-level to the authorities during the inspection.
Mayor Sara was concerned that the transmission of the virus can be exponential because an owner of the FM pass may be infected of the coronavirus and transmission goes on.
She also advised the public not to touch anything outside their homes and clenching fists would be a great reminder for them to stop touching anything when outside.
“Ikumo na ninyo inyong mga kamot para dili mo makalimot nga di ko dapat manggunit bisan asa (Clench your fists so you won’t forget that you must not touch anything anywhere),” she stressed.
Mayor Sara cited recent doctors’ statement that transmission of the virus is not only through droplets from an infected person but also through touching an inanimate object touched by the infected person. CIO
