Thankful of the Dabawenyos show of solidarity with the people in need, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte asked donors to strictly follow rules on giving relief goods to Dabawenyos in need.

Mayor Sara said this is for their own protection and for the protection of the beneficiaries against the deadly Covid-19.

“Ang policy sa City Government is that you can give it to us kay pwede nato isabay sa mga nagadistribute because ang atoang mga nagadistribute nagapractice na sila ug social distancing ug nagasigurado nga dili sila makatakod ug dili sila matakdan. Or you can give it sa barangay kay naa pud silay kaugalingon nila nga sistema ug distribution (Our policy is that you can give it to us and we distribute through our personnel who are assigned with the distribution. They are practicing social distancing and other preventive measures. Or, you can give it to the barangay as they have their system of distribution),” Mayor Sara said during her interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio.

Mayor Sara said she already discussed the policy on donations with the City COVID-19 Task Force.

If donors have doubts or apprehensions in handing over their donations to the government, the mayor suggested not to donate at all to avoid risks of spreading the virus.

“Kung naa mo apprehension on giving it to the government or the barangay council, then ang policy is not to give because dili ninyo ma control ang social distancing sa area, and possible nga makakuha mo ug kagaw didto sa area (If you have apprehension on giving it to the government or the barangay council, then the policy is not to give because you cannot control social distancing in the area and you can get the virus from the area),” the mayor said.

She reminded donors that recipients of the donations are mostly in Davao City’s high-risk areas of the coronavirus.

Donors may course through their donations through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) or the Davao City Operations Center through their hotlines: 0919 071 1111, 0917 508 6548, and 244-0181. CIO
