The City Government of Davao, through the City Health Office (CHO), has bolstered its commitment to hold Kadayawan festivities in the healthiest and safest way possible by establishing a Health Command Post.
The Health Command Post became fully-operational on Friday (August 5), providing emergency medical coverage during the opening of the Kadayawan Village in Magsaysay Park.
The group is responsible for the delivery of first-aid and medical emergency response to ensure the health and safety of the 50,000 people estimated to join the festivities during Kadayawan.
Dr. Jebbee Palec, commander of the Health Command Post, on Tuesday told the City Information Office that their group is made up of health personnel from the CHO and the Davao City Central 911.
The Central 911 will be deploying teams from its Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), and Fire Auxiliary Services (FAS) units.
Palec said medical teams and ambulances deployed in the Kadayawan activity areas will be on standby for any medical emergency. CHO physicians, nurses and nursing aides will be on rotation for the entire duration of the Kadayawan celebration.
The Health Command Post will also be responsible for the setting up of medical stations for each Kadayawan activity. Medical stations manned by CHO’s healthcare personnel will treat and manage ambulatory cases, while urgent cases requiring hospital-based care will be transported via Central 911’s ambulance.
The Command Post is also responsible for the setting up of a triage scheme for the streamlined assessment of “individuals needing medical emergency attention.”
Meanwhile, other units from the safety and security cluster will be in constant coordination with the CHO to closely monitor the observance of the minimum public health standards all throughout the festivities. The CHO has repeatedly reminded all Dabawenyos to wear face masks and to sanitize their hands regularly. CIO
