Personnel from the Department of Health have intensified contact tracing in barangays of Davao City that have confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) as the deadly virus had already affected 108 persons, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said.

Mayor Inday said on Monday that DOH personnel went to Barangay Daliao in Toril District to conduct contact tracing.

She said the problem was that people are getting infected even if they had no travel history nor they never went to the Matina Gallera, specifically during the March derby there. Some of those found positive of Covid-19 also did not have close contact with any Covid-19 positive individuals.

Of the 108 cases in the city, 19 have died while 57 others have recovered.

“Natingala na ang DOH kung ngano pa naga taas ang atoang cases bisan sa effort nato. Kaganina naa sila sa barangay Daliao para mag conduct og intensified contact tracing,” she said. “Kinahanglan man gud nato mabal-an kay naay instances nga wala najud na-trace kung asa niya nakuha ang sakit.”

She said that the intensified contact tracing will help the city contain the virus as people who already have the disease without their knowledge will now be identified.

“Pwede man gud nga nakuha siya sa grocery, sa mga food delivery services or take out counter sa mga restaurants,” she said. CIO
