Davao City has continued to assist and monitor households that remain on lockdown after some family members were exposed to people with coronavirus symptoms or have been included in the contact tracing list.

Angel Sumagaysay, the Chief of Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC), said that a total of 35 households had been locked down. He, however, said the number may have lessened as some have been lifted after the 14-day quarantine or after the result of the second testing for coronavirus is negative.

Dr. Joy Villafuerte, the Head of the City Health Office (CHO), said that if members of the households on lockdown will be found positive of the coronavirus on the 14th day, they will be sent to the isolation facility.

Villafuerte emphasized the importance of the household lockdown as this will help contain further spread of the coronavirus in the city.

“Malaking bagay ‘yang lockdown kasi pag naglockdown tayo, lalo na pag household lockdown, ‘yong cases natin naco-contain na lang sa bahay. So after 14 days usually ma-negative naman sila (The lockdown is a great thing especially the household lockdown. Our cases are contained within the house. After 14 days usually their result turn out negative),” she said.

Meantime, Maria Luisa Bermudo, the Head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), assured that each household on lockdown is provided with food ration good for 14 days.

Also, these households are being monitored by the assigned police officers from DCPO. CIO
