The Davao City Health Office (CHO) on Friday opened its new headquarters fronting the Bonifacio Rotonda on Pichon Street.
A ribbon-cutting and blessing was held in the new six-story, 900 square meter CHO main building, which had a budget of P90 Million, half of which came from the City Government of Davao while the other half came from the Department of Health (DOH).
CHO Officer-in-Charge Dr. Ashley Lopez said the new building “will cater almost all of the services and the programs under the City Health Office.”
The CHO’s divisions, units and administrative offices had already been relocated. The new CHO building also houses ‘Botika ng Bayan, a stockroom and vaccine room.
“The new building can cater up to 70 walk-in clients per day,” Lopez said.
The city’s district health centers have also been renovated, said Lopez. He urged Dabawenyos to avail themselves of the health services in the nearest barangay and district health centers
“Health-wise, and in terms of social services, we are ready for everything right now,” he said.
Mayor Sebastian Duterte, who attended the inauguration, congratulated the CHO for its new main building.
Duterte also recounted the bravery of city health frontliners at the height of the pandemic, when uncertainty and fear over the virus almost crippled other sectors. He commended the performance of the CHO and vowed that public health remains at the forefront of his priority agenda.
Administrator Atty. Francis Mark Layog, representatives of DOH XI, several city councilors and other public officials also attended the inauguration. CIO
