The City Health Office (CHO) said more barangays from the second and third congressional districts of Davao City have created their own Barangay Mosquito-Borne Viral Disease Task Force to help combat the increase of dengue cases in the city.
Ms. Melodina Babante, head of CHO’s Tropical Diseases Division, said during an interview with the Madayaw Program over the city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday that there are 25 barangays from the 3rd District and 12 from the 2nd District that now have their own task force while the 1st District still has five.
The office continues to urge other barangays to take the initiative of creating their own task force. They also reached out to the Barangay Cultural Communities Affairs Division (BCCAD) to help in urging the other barangays.

The CHO has recorded 2,825 dengue cases from JanuaryāAugust this year. As of September 15, Babante said they recorded additional 108 cases of dengue.
The CHO continues to encourage the public to practice the 5S strategies to combat dengue which pertains to (1) searching and destroying mosquito breeding sites; (2) seeking early medical consultation; (3) securing self-protection; (4) supporting indoor and outdoor spraying; and (5) sustain hydration.
