The Davao City Health Office and the Department of Health (DoH) boost the delivery of health services after more doctors, dentists and nurses were deployed to the barangays under the national governmentâs Human Resource for Health (HRH) program.
At least 166 medical doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives, medical technicians, and others were immediately deployed to the barangays to fill the need for health professionals, especially in rural areas.
Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, the head of the CHO, said the additional health team will be under the supervision of the CHO.
The HRH program initiated by DoH is aimed to address the lack of doctors, dentists, nurses, and others in the barangays. The program is a support to the attainment of the Universal Health Care approved under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The deployed health professionals will provide public health and clinical services, strengthen the other administrative and managerial concerns in the rural health unit such as operational health planning, researches, disease surveillance, staff capability building, and program management.
The health professionals are assigned in areas identified by the DOH.
âThey will complete the necessary sets of health professionals in every barangay,â Villafuerte said.
Villafuerte said the additional medical team is a big help for better delivery of health services.
Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte thanked the DOH for assisting the city in filling its need for medical professionals.
âHealth is one of my priorities and with this deployment, everyone in the community â even in the far-flung barangays â have easy access to (services) and medicines,â said VM Baste, who has been acting mayor since Mayor Inday Sara Duterte took a leave in July.
VM Baste said health should be the primary concern of the government, adding that addressing the medical needs of the people and promoting good health will make communities progressive. CIO
