As coronavirus cases still on the rise in Davao City, the city government is preparing six (6) sites to serve as temporary treatment and monitoring facilities.

These facilities, which are up for classification by the Department of Health (DoH), are Emcor Inc. container vans, University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao Faculty and Staff Housing, UP Mindanao Sports Complex, Alternative Learning System Building, Rizal memorial Colleges classrooms, and the La Vida Inn.

The six facilities were previously used as quarantine sites but the city government has asked DoH XI Regional Director Annabelle Yumang to update their classification to provide more space for treatment and monitoring.

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has committed to re-inspect the facilities to ensure that they are clean, complete and fully operational by July 20, 2020. She has also committed to hire or assign the staffing required for the facilities.

And for various quarantine needs, the city government is also using the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Camp and the Rizal Memorial Colleges Petro Gazz Arena/Gymnasium.

Mayor Sara also asked DoH that Queensland shall cease allowing admissions on July 20 and all patients must be transferred to the identified six facilities depending on their classification.

As of July 13, Davao City has 162 active positive Covid-19 cases, 382 recovered and 35 deaths based on the data of the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). CIO
