A health team from the Department of Health (DoH) XI found four more individuals positive of the coronavirus as the government intensifies contact tracing and random testing in Davao City.

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte on Saturday said that four out of 52 individuals tested randomly in Barangay Leon Garcia and Barangay 23-C were positive of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19).

“Out of 15, dunay tulo nga nagpositive sa Leon Garcia ug isa sa Isla Verde sa Barangay 23, out of 47 nga atoang gikuha, dunay isa nga nag positive (Out of 15, there were three found positive in Leon Garcia and one was positive out of 47 we tested in Isla Verde in Barangay 23),” the mayor said during an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).

Mayor Sara said that one of the four individuals are asymptomatic. She did not mention the condition of the other three individuals.

The number of positive cases is expected to shoot up with the intensified case finding and random testing.

The mayor said the city has strengthened the community case finding through random testing in areas where there are recorded COVID-19 cases to locate more people who have possibly contracted the virus.

Mayor Sara earlier said the DoH team has conducted random testing in some puroks in Leon Garcia, Bankerohan, Buhangin, and areas surrounding Barangay 21 and 23.

Contact tracing is a core measure to control the further spread of the disease. Mayor Sara said that this is essential to know who should be tested and oriented on how to do strict self-isolation.

So far, around 16 areas in Davao City have been subjected to street and household lockdowns after Covid cases have been reported. CIO
