The Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) bared that three recreational parksâlocated in Barangay Communal, Barangay 76-A Bucana, and Barangay Los Amigosâare set to open to the public before the end of 2022.
These are in addition to the 22 already existing parks in Davao City
CENRO Head Engr. Marivic Reyes told the City Information Office by phone on Thursday that three new public parksâ the Bucana Pocket Park, Communal Pocket Park, and Los Amigos Parkâare now completed and will soon be launched. Engr. Reyes bared that the budget allocated for the park in Bucana amounted to P8, 881, 000, the Communal park with P12 million, and the Los Amigos park with over P26 million.
The parks are strategically placed in the heart of some of the most populous districts in Davao City, in line with the cityâs comprehensive development plan for public land use and ensuring that all Dabawenyos have equal access to public recreational amenities.
With this, the CENRO Head declared that their office continues to oversee the development of public recreational facilities with careful thought of convenient access for the far-flung barangays in the city.
âBecause ang Davao City kay dako gyud siya na lugar, ang purpose gyud ani kay para ang ubang residente, especially kids, naaây space wherein maka-enjoy sila, relax and spend time with the family (Because Davao City is a really large place, the purpose of these parks is for other residents, especially kids, to have some space where they can enjoy, relax, and spend time with the family),â Reyes said.
In addition, a fourth public park in Doña Vicenta Villageâthe largest currently in development with a budget allocation of P82,567,000âis still in the works with a 65% completion status. Reyes added that more public parks are currently being studied and developed, including a proposed greenway park along Roxas Avenue and along the vicinity of the coastal road. The development of these public parks is in line with the local governmentâs bid to make Davao City more livable and accommodating to children and their families.
The launching of the parks in Bucana, Communal, and Los Amigos is currently on hold as CENRO and the Davao City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) deliberate whether to go ahead with it or wait for the completion of the fourth one in Doña Vicenta. CIO
