The prestigious Lunhaw Awards is now open for nomination of all individuals and groups in Davao City who have implemented environmentally-friendly initiatives, programs, or projects.

As the Lunhaw Awards celebrates its 10th anniversary, it continues to recognize outstanding efforts and practices for the environment, encouraging a greener and more sustainable future.

The 10th Lunhaw Awards welcomes entries from various sectors, including community-based organizations, schools, student organizations, private and business establishments, non-government organizations, and government agencies. The aim is to honor those who have shown exemplary commitment to environmental preservation within the city.

The official categories include green building/urban greening, forest-based initiatives, rural and urban organic farming, energy and water conservation, marine resources management, pollution control, and education and advocacy.

Interested participants may also join the special categories: search for outstanding environmental advocates in Davao City (youth 30 and below, adults 31 and above), search for outstanding local government units with environmental initiatives (barangay-led initiative), and search for establishments with permeable pavement design for parking spaces and walkways.

Participants can submit their entries for the Lunhaw Awards until July 17, 2023. The awarding ceremony will be held in September, coinciding with the Lunhaw Month of Davao City. Winners will receive a specially designed trophy by acclaimed Mindanaoan artist Kublai Milan, along with cash prizes worth P10,000 and organic goodies.

To join the Lunhaw Awards, interested individuals or groups are required to secure and fill out the 10th Lunhaw Awards (2023) Application Form. The form can be completed online via the following link: https://form.jotform.com/200507611218040.

Printed application forms are also available at the IDIS office, located on the 2nd floor of the ALMACEN Building in Catalunan Pequeno, km11, Davao-Bukidnon National Highway. Alternatively, applicants can request an e-copy by emailing lunhawawards@gmail.com.

Entries can be submitted in person at the IDIS Office or the CENRO Office (Maa Motorpool) along with necessary documents, such as photos and reports about the environmental initiative. If preferred, entries can also be submitted online by sending all forms and attachments to lunhawawards@gmail.com.

The Lunhaw Awards is jointly organized by the City Government of Davao, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office – of Davao, the Davao City Agriculturist Office, Davao City Water District, Davao Association of Catholic Schools, Inc., and the Interfacing Development Interventions for Sustainability – IDIS.
