As school opening in June approaches, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Thursday urged school authorities including higher education institutions to get ready with their “stay-home classes” plan.

Mayor Sara said the plan for online classes, distance learning, and take-home modules should at least cover two months because the lifting of the community quarantine is still indefinite.

“Nag-ingon ang doctors basin August pa daw [ma-lift] but that is not—dili pud sila makatubag. Definitely kung August ba gyud, we are advising you this early to prepare until July 31, 2020, sa inyohang online classes, sa inyohang distance learning, sa inyohang take-home module, so that magpadayon gihapon ug eskwela ang mga bata bisan pa man ug duna ta’y quarantine (The doctors said the quarantine may be lifted in August but they too, cannot answer that. If it’s in August, we are advising you this early to prepare until July 31, 2020, with your online classes, distance learning, take-home module, so that children could continue their schooling despite the quarantine),” she said.

Mayor Sara said Davao City remains under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and will not be lifted until April 26.

After the ECQ, she added is the Modified Community Quarantine (MCQ). CIO
