The Educational Benefit System Unit (EBSU) said the E-scholar App was effective in assessing 1,031 applicants for the Scholarship for Tertiary Education Program this year.

The office announced the names of the 302 qualified applicants for Tertiary Education on Thursday on the City Government of Davao Facebook Page.

EBSU Technical Assistant Emilio Domingo Jr., in an interview with the City Information Office on Friday, stated that the use of the E-Scholar App has provided ease for both the applicants and the EBSU staff.

“Simpler sa applicant ug sa amua, ang mga tao dili ingon magdagsa diri ug dali nalang kaayo kung naay mga pangutana diri dali nalang kaayo matubag kay isa ka click lang makita nimo dayon ang ilang data gikan sa requirements nga na-submit (It has become simpler for the applicants and us because people do not gather in our office anymore and there are questions we can easily answer because in just one click, we can already see their data from the requirements they have submitted),” he said.

Domingo said that only those who have problems uploading their files visited their office, with the count not exceeding 10 people per day.

He said that six dedicated people are monitoring the E-Scholar App.

Students apply through the App by creating their accounts and uploading their requirements. The App can provide initial screening insofar as grade requirement is concerned. With the app, disqualified applicants are provided with an explanation.

According to Domingo, the App adheres to the Data Privacy Act, as the data of the students uploaded will only be kept for one year. Students who have already created accounts will only provide updates, should they seek to apply for a scholarship in the next school year.

Only qualified applicants, who passed the screenings including the interview, are asked to submit the hardcopy of their documents to the EBSU Office.

Domingo said that qualified applicants will have an orientation on September 9, 2023. CIO
