In a bid to provide facilities that are conducive to learning for the August 28 opening of classes, the Department of Education Davao Division conducted the division-wide Brigada Eskwela 2023 at the Manambulan Elementary School in Tugbok District on Monday, August 14.

The Brigada Eskwela is a weeklong event and will end on August 19.

Davao City Division Superintendent Reynante A Solitario led the kick-off and was joined by all public schools division supervisors for the elementary level, Cluster-5 school heads, Piedad District School heads, Davao local government unit representatives, private partners, parents, division personnel, and guests.

Solitario told reporters that the Brigada Eskwela 2023 is made possible with the full support of stakeholders who would like to contribute to the full development of children, starting with facilities conducive to learning.

A manifestation of such support is the Deed of Donation signing between the DepEd and the 25 private partners/stakeholders that donated various supplies for the Brigada Eskwela. Such supplies include paint and
classroom supplies for the use of students.

“Nagapaningkamot ang Department of Education nga mabalik namo ang kanhing ka bibo sa pag-abli sa klase. So diri makita nato ang suporta sa nagkadaiyang sektor (DepEd is doing its best to bring back the liveliness during the opening of classes. We can now actually see the support of various sectors),” Solitario said.

Solitario said they expect the Davao Division to have about 500,000-600,000 enrollees for the school year 2023-2024.

He added that the Local School Board under the City Government of Davao has already charged Php 1 billion under the Special Education Fund for the construction of additional classrooms and the payment of city-paid auxiliary teachers. CIO
