The Davao City government has received 10,000 applications for tertiary education scholarship under the “Tulong Dunong Program” offered by the City Government of Davao and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
With a big number of applications to avail of the college scholarship, Davao City and CHED added 2,000 slots bringing the total scholarship slots to 11,500. Submission of applications is still open until July 31, 2020.
Norman Baloro, the Focal Person of the Tulong Dunong Program, said that the program has opened an additional 2,000 slots making the total available slots of 11,500 for qualified tertiary education students.
Of the number, 500 slots are already closed for the children of the children of the jeepney/PUJ drivers displaced by the transport modernization system – the High Priority Bus System (HPBS) project.
The Tulong Dunong Program was initially offered for children of the jeepney/PUJ drivers but this was extended to all interested Dabawenyos in tertiary education after profiling showed many children of PUJ drivers are not yet in the college level.
As of July 29, Baloro said that almost 10,000 applicants have submitted their details to Baloro’s office and these are now up for assessment.
Baloro also called on all applicants to always check on their official Facebook page for updates and the result of their application.

The beneficiary of the program will be granted P7,500 per semester for four academic years starting 2019 and onwards.
Interested applicants may e-mail the following information on or before July 30, 2020, to tulongdunong.cgd@gmail.com: complete name, date of birth, sex, complete address, school enrolled, course, year level during the school year 2019-2020, father’s name ad occupation, mother’s maiden name, and occupation, contact number, and email address.
