The Davao City Investment and Promotions Center (DCIPC) is eyeing more business and tourism activities between Davao and Korea after the successful three-day investment and tourism roadshow in Seoul, Korea last week.
“Over 50 Korean businessmen joined the Davao City Business Forum held at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, Korea,” said Lemuel Ortonio, the chief of the DCIPC.
Ortonio said the interest of the businessmen who joined the Business Forum, which was organized with the assistance of the Philippine Embassy, ranged from the cacao beans and nibs supply from Davao, seaweeds trading and pet bottle recycling machines.
He said the goal of the Forum was to highlight the investment opportunities in the city’s agriculture, tourism and ICT sector.
With the assistance of the Philippine Department of Tourism, Ortonio said the Davao delegation was able to organize a product presentation of Davao City to Korean tour operators.
The Davao delegation was headed by City Administrator Atty. Zuleika Lopez, also included officers and members of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce, Inc., representatives from the Department of Trade and Industry and travel and tour operators as well as city councilors.
The delegation also had an opportunity to participate in the investment meeting with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the largest business organization with an estimated 180,000 members.
Part of the activity was the visit to the Seoul Food Expo and the Kintex International Convention Center.
“The visit to these places and events provided a very good opportunity to learn their best practices and to gain insight on market sensing and surveying,” he said.
Aside from that, he said, the Investment and Tourism Roadshow also gave the delegation a chance to provide Koreans a glimpse of the different investment and tourism opportunities in the city.
The city also conducted a similar roadshow to four cities in Japan last year, and in Malaysia and Singapore in the previous years.
The roadshows aim to create awareness on the different investment and tourism opportunities in the city. CIO
