The Davao City government called on all owners of service-oriented business establishments to undergo drug abuse orientation activities because the city is set to implement City Ordinance 0506-13 and Executive Order No. 32.
The ordinance and EO 32 were approved last year mandating establishments to craft a drug-free workplace program. The orientation is one of the requirements for the renewal of business permits starting next year.
Connie Domag, the Technical Adviser on Drug Prevention and Rehabilitation of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), said the orientation will prepare business establishment owners to follow the ordinance and craft own program.
“This will prepare them to comply with the requirements, which are the conduct of random drug testing for the employees and to formulate a drug-free workplace plan for prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment of employees – in case that during the drug testing, there will be confirmed positive (cases),” Domag said.
Domag said business establishment owners must attend the orientations to avoid problems in seeking renewal of their business permits next year.
Domag urged owners to enroll soonest in accredited schools.
The four accredited schools to conduct the orientations are the Ateneo de Davao University, Holy Cross of Davao College, University of Mindanao-Matina Campus, and the University of the Immaculate Conception.
