In line with the National Disaster Resilience Month, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) – together with other city government offices – will conduct the Walk the Creek and Walk the Slope Activity on July 27.
CDRRMO Head Alfredo Baloran said during the I-Speak media forum at the City Hall Conference Room on Thursday that for the Walk the Creek, “we will assess those creeks that frequently experience overflow during heavy rainfall that will affect communities in impact areas.”
“May mga teams tayo from different offices that will join. For the Walk the Slope, with that activity atong ma-determine the status of our landslide-prone areas (We have teams from different offices that will join. For the Walk the Slope, with that activity, we can determine the status of our landslide-prone areas),” Baloran said.
Baloran said that the activity will just be a re-assessment because the CDRRMO has already done a similar assessment in the previous years.
“We already had a coordination meeting with the other offices: City Engineer’s Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, Ancillary Services Unit, City Social Welfare and Development Office and City Health Office for a one-time big-time assessment, ” Baloran said.
He added that the target areas for Walk the Creek are La Verna Creek, Panacan, Tibungco Creek, and Acliban Creek in Barangay Sto. Nino, and Puan Creek.
For the Walk the Slope, Baloran said that they will visit a portion of Ma-a beside Shrine Hills, Juario Village, at the back of Memorial, portions of Tigatto, Purok Tinago Barangay Matina Pangi, and areas in the old Smokey Mountain.
The team is composed of teams from the City Planning, the Department of Public Works and Highways, and CEE.
The CDRRMO will submit recommendations to the respective concerned offices after the inspection. CIO
