The Davao City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) has started giving the financial assistance to the victims of the flood that hit several areas in Davao City on August 28.

Ma. Luisa Bermudo, the head of CSSDO, said her office has started releasing the cash assistance since last week.

First to receive the cash aid were the affected residents in Calinan District.

For the affected residents of Talomo District, one of the severely hit areas, CSSDO distributed the cash assistance starting Monday.

Affected families received P5,000 to P10,000 cash assistance each — depending on the extent of the damage to their homes.

Around 13,000 individuals were affected by the flooding caused by swelling of the rivers that overflowed to the residential areas.

“We have scheduled the distribution of the cash assistance. The affected families have been fully informed of their schedule,” said Bermudo.

The city government has approved the release of P50 million in aid for the flood victims, as well as for the repair of infrastructures damaged by the calamity. CIO
