The Davao City Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) is only waiting for the documentary requirements in connection with the city government’s Php 1.6 million assistance to Davao de Oro and two municipalities next week.

CDRRMO head Alfredo Baloran, during the I-Speak media forum, said that the fund for the financial assistance to the province and municipalities that declared State of Calamity after the series of earthquakes on the first week of March had already been approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

ā€œThe city council approved our financial assistance for LGU (hit by) the earthquake– the province of Davao de Oro, Maragusan, and New Bataan,ā€ Baloran said, adding that once the documents are all prepared, the team from the CDRRMO will hand the financial assistance next week.

Baloran said that the basis of the financial assistance is the state of calamity declaration of the municipalities and also the declaration of State of Calamity by the province of Davao De Oro.

Last March 13, the provincial government of Davao de Oro placed the province under State of Calamity following a series of earthquakes. According to the Resolution No. 0556-2023 declaring a state of calamity, the said earthquake affected a total of 194,057 households with 229,647 families and has caused severe damage to houses, infrastructures, and livelihoods, as well as powerlines, roads, and other lifelines within the province. The accumulated initial estimated cost of damage was P196.847 million.

Baloran said that Davao de Oro will receive Php 1 million in financial assistance while the two municipalities, New Bataan and Maragusan, will receive 300,000 each.

Before the handing over of the financial assistance, Baloran said that the city government initially sent food packs to the affected areas. CIO
