The Davao City relief team has delivered more goods to quake-hit towns of Padada and Hagonoy in Davao del Sur on Wednesday.
The two towns are still reeling from the damages of the two strong earthquakes that hit some Mindanao areas recently.
Aside from the cash aid amounting to P300,000 requested by Mayor Inday Sara Duterte and approved by the City Council this month, Davao City delivered additional materials which include 1,200 meters of tarpaulin, 40 pieces of mosquito net, 40 pieces of blanket, 20 pieces of casserole, and four (4) sacks of assorted clothes.
The team also brought some goods to three affected villages in the town such as Barangays San Isidro, Piape, and Punta Piape. Padada received 2,000 packs of relief goods in total.
Padada Mayor Pedro Caminero Jr. extended his heartfelt gratitude to Mayor Sara and the people of Davao for the relief goods.
My big thanks to the City Government of Davao through Mayor Inday Sara for the donations delivered today. Caminero said the government facilities in the town were damaged by the earthquake such as the Municipal Hall, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Since then, employees hold office in tents to continue government operation.
Homes were also damaged by the incident.
Padada resident Flora Gracia who lost her house pleaded help for their town. She said food, tarpaulins, water, and medicines especially for children were the major needs there.
Faye Armello, also one of the victims in Padada, lamented she can barely sleep at night thinking about how they could recover from the traumatic experience.
Both Gracia and Armello were still very thankful that services reached their area.
Meanwhile, the municipality of Hagonoy also received assistance from Davao City.
The Davao City relief team reached four (4) villages in Hagonoy with around 400 families are residing. These are Barangays Aplaya, Balutakay, Guihing, and Malabang.
The Davao City relief team is set to continue delivering aid to the affected areas until the end of December. CIO
