The award, given at the Manila Hotel on December 7, included a P300,000 cash prize.

Led by The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the Gawad KALASAG Awards recognizes the local DRRM offices, public response teams, civil society organizations, and individuals who make exemplary contributions in the field of disaster risk reduction, emergency response, and climate change adaptation.

Although the Gawad KALASAG award proves Davao City has an exceptional disaster preparedness and emergency response teams, Baloran said the CDRRMO will continue implementing its best practices and DRRM programs.

Baloran said people can expect more trainings and drills that will increase their knowledge on how to respond to emergencies.
