The Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) finally goes on air on Monday bringing information to Dabawenyos about disaster preparedness and other information on city government activities.
Radio DCDR on 87.5 FM frequency, is set to boost the city’s disaster information drive with its 24-hour regular programming to include timely news.
Mayor Inday Sara Duterte emphasized the need to establish the disaster radio where Dabawenyos get relevant information from the city government.
“Nakita namo nga bisan pa og naay presence sa social media, TV, naa tay partnership sa mainstream media, there is still a need to reach out to more Dabawenyos about timely and correct information (We have strong presence in social media, TV, and partnership with mainstream media, there is still a need to reach out to more Dabawenyos for timely and correct information),” she said.
Mayor Inday said the DCDR 87.5 FM can be heard all over the city and will air relevant news and announcements, especially concerning disaster preparedness.
DCDR 87.5 FM will also soon air disaster information covering the entire Davao region, through a partnership with the governors of the different provinces of Region XI.
Governor Claude Bautista of Davao Occidental, Tyrone Uy of Davao de Oro and Nelson Dayanghirang of Davao Occidental signed a manifesto, together with Mayor Inday, showing support for the disaster radio.
“If they have disaster preparedness or disaster projects that they want to share with the entire region, they can announce it through the DCDR so that everybody will know that this is a venue for the entire region,” she said.
The city government and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the sharing of public disaster preparedness announcements. CIO
