Following the recent earthquakes, the City Government of Davao through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) extended financial assistance to the province and municipalities under state of calamity after the November and December earthquakes.
CDRRMO Officer-in-Charge, Alfredo Baloran, said in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO), that the assistance was handed over to the respective LGUs of the affected municipalities last December 21 and 22.
“Last December 21 and 22, ang atoang office, ang disaster office was tasked to hand over the financial assistance from the City Government of Davao to the Municipality of Hinatuan and Municipality of Cagwait of Surigao del Sur. Also, for the province of Surigao del Sur naghatag ang Davao City (Last December 21–22, the CDRRMO was tasked to handover the financial assistance from the City Government of Davao to the Municipalities of Hinatuan and Cagwait in Surigao del Sur. The province of Surigao del Sur also received financial aid from the city),” he said.
The Municipalities of Alabel, Malapatan, and Glan in Sarangani province were also recipients of financial assistance from the city.
According to Baloran, he personally handed over the financial assistance to the LGUs of the province and municipalities.
“Actually, ang pag-extend og financial assistance to all LGUs na under state of calamity is already a practice pud sa City Government of Davao. That is the initiative of our Local Chief Executive using our quick response funds of the disasters (Actually, extending financial assistance to LGUs in state of calamity is already a practice of the City Government of Davao. A total of Php 2,500,000 was given to the affected areas with the Province of Surigao del Sur receiving Php 1,000,000 while the rest of the municipalities received Php 300,000 each. CIO
