Central 911 gets two response vehicles

Two light vehicles for search and rescue were turned over to Central 911 during the weekly flag-raising ceremony ‪on Monday morning‬.

The two rescue vehicles are equipped with facilities for swift water rescue, landslide, and even vehicular accidents.

Central 911 head Emmanuel Jaldon said that the rescue vehicles will enhance the capability of Central 911 to easily rescue victims of flooding, and high angle and low angle rescue operations that need rope.

“These are a British designed and even the (vehicles) body is made in England. These are 4×4 vehicles with off-road features and equipped with new generation sirens, communication and a new type of flashers,” he said.

Jaldon said that the two light rescue vehicles, worth P12.8 million or P4.6 million each, will be deployed in Marilog District once the Marahan Central 911 substation will be opened there.

“This will be posted in Marilog District since vehicular accidents is very common there, it will save us some time. This will be in tandem with one regular ambulance and the other one will be posted either in Panacan or the Cabantian substation,” he said.

Jaldon said that with the two new rescue vehicles, their capacity in rescue operations will also be enhanced.

He said that they are still looking to have another light search and rescue vehicle to address the needs of the entire Davao City.

“This will help us in terms of response time. With these, it will faster our response to all eventualities in the city,” he said. CIO
