The City Veterinarianâs Office (CVO) is the frontline in providing better quality of life for Davaoeños by continually improving animal welfare, promoting a healthy animal population as source of food using environmentally sound farming system, a source of power and transportation in the rural areas, and means to derive friendship and companionship. CVO was once a division under the City Mayor until after the issuance of Resolution No. 459, series of 1947 of the City Council of Davao in 1947. At present,  the office, as a department, is responsible in handling meat inspections in slaughterhouses and operating city pound to control stray animals roaming around the city.
