The Public Safety Security Command Center (PSSCC) continues to deliver services, particularly keeping the peace and order and supporting the COVID-19 response of Davao City even as its office was placed under granular lockdown.
PSSCC chief Retired Police Lt. Col. Angel Sumagaysay, during the At Your Service program of 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Tuesday afternoon, September 14, said, “Dili maiwasan matakdan ang atong mga personahe sa virus, gina-expect na kini nato tungod sa nature sa work sa ground. So far so good except nag-implementar ta og granular lockdown sa atoang opisina pero among mahatag na assurance gapadayon ang operation sa Public Safety and Security Command Center. Wala naundang ang atoang pag-oversee sa peace and order sa Davao City (We can’t prevent our personnel from being infected with the coronavirus, we expect it because of the nature of work on the ground. So far so good, except that we have a granular lockdown in our office but we assure the public that the operation of the Public Safety and Security Command Center continues. We have not stopped overseeing the peace and order in Davao City).”
He said that the PSSCC, being a coordinating agency, has been regularly coordinating with members of the security cluster – Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Task Force Davao (TFD), three battalions in the hinterlands, and Philippine Coast Guard, which are also at the frontline of enforcing the guidelines and provisions of the city’s general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.
“Nagapadayon ang PSSCC sa iyang mandato hilabi na sa seguridad sa tibuok Davao City. Karong panahuna padayon atoang suporta sa atong City Health Office, sa ilang mga program batok aning atong ginasubang nga pandemic. Maayo unta malampasan nato ning mga trials (The PSSCC continues to abide by its mandate, particularly in the security of the entire Davao City. We also continue to support the City Health Office in its pandemic-related programs. We hope we all overcome these trials),” he said.
He said that although the PSSCC focuses on terrorism, they are not setting aside active responses to disasters in coordination with the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO). The PSCC also coordinates with all uniformed units whenever CDRRMO needs assistance.
Although the PSSCC is currently in granular lockdown and is also on a skeleton workforce arrangement as mandated by Mayor Inday Sara Duterte’s Executive Order No. 44 Series of 2021, Sumagaysay said they have standby resources.
The PSSCC chief said, “Dili dapat maundang ang operations sa atoang opisina (Our operations must never stop). We are ready to support CDRRMO in any disaster.”
He also said with strong coordination with members of the security cluster, security protocols have already been established. This, according to him, is evident in all isolation and quarantine facilities, as well as in all swabbing and vaccination sites, where the security group sees to it that the minimum public health standards (MPHS) are being followed.
