The three-day “Bayanihan Bakunahan National Vaccination Days” received good reception on its first day of the rollout on Monday as an overwhelming number of Dabawenyos queued at all vaccination sites in Davao City.
Led by Davao City Vaccination Cluster Head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, the city government in partnership with the Department of Health aims to inoculate 49,000 Dabawenyos per day until December 1, 2021.
“Halos tanan sites puno. Up to this time naa pay gi-vaccinate (Almost all sites are full. Up to this time, there are still people being vaccinated,” Villafuerte said in an interview late afternoon on Monday.
Given the number of persons who expressed interest to be vaccinated, Public Safety and Security Command (PSSCC) head Angel Sumagaysay in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) also said that he has deployed more personnel to ensure the orderly conduct of the vaccination for the remaining days of the three-day national vaccination.
The PSSCC ensures the orderly conduct of the vaccination rollout in the sites particularly compliance with the minimum public health protocols such as social distancing and the wearing of face masks.
The anti-Covid vaccination days will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 30 and December 1, 2021, starting from 8 AM until 3 PM. The list of vaccination sites, which are open for walk-ins, is posted on the City Government of Davao Facebook Page.
Those who are interested to be vaccinated should bring a Valid ID, Safedavao QR, and a pen for the first dose and vaccination card, valid ID, SafeDavao QR and pen for the second dose, and missed dose.
Additional requirements are required for those eligible for pediatric vaccination – 12 to 17 years old, include Birth Certificate or Baptismal Certificate of minor, Valid ID of minor, Valid ID of parent/guardian, and Barangay Certificate/Special Power of Attorney (SPA) of guardianship for those accompanied by a guardian, and medical clearance from the pediatrician for those with comorbidities.
Also serving for the national vaccination day on November 30 – one is led by Sangguniang Panlungsod under the Office of Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte at the Malabog Elementary School in Barangay Tapak, and the other is the mobile vaccination for members of the Indigenous by the Vaccination Cluster at Barangay Datu Salumay, Marilog District.
In her message during the kick off ceremony on the first day of the Bayanihan Bakunahan, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte expressed her optimism on the huge turnout of the massive vaccination rollout.
“Now that we are a few numbers away from achieving herd immunity, we are hopeful that this may contribute to a smoother sailing transition to new normal,” the mayor said.
During her weekly program over the Davao City Disaster Radio Mayor Sara said that as of November 26, 2021, around 1,065,383 Dabawenyos already received the first dose or 81.5 percent of the target number for herd immunity and 944,909 individuals with the second dose and fully vaccinated or 72.68 per cent of the target number for herd immunity.
Mayor Sara said the city government will assess the turnout after the three-day vaccination if the target number for herd immunity is achieved.
