The Davao City government on Monday has lifted the 14-day hard lockdown imposed on Barangay 23-C and downgraded the movement restriction to purok and household as a continuing effort to contain the spread of the coronavirus infection.

Lifting of the hard lockdown starting Monday, July 20, 2020, was decided after a series of Covid-19 Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test conducted from July 15-17, 2020, in the seven puroks of Barangay 23-C suggested that movement and control measures can be done by purok or house with coronavirus positive cases.

“Sa 58 na gi swab nato through target testing, duha (2) lang ka buok ang nag positive sa ilaha (Of the 58 people that we tested through target testing, only two (2) turned out positive),” Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said over the city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio.

The City Health Office (CHO) has confirmed that the houses with the two positive cases in Barangay 23-C are subjected to household lockdown.

Mayor Sara added that the city will once again conduct targeted testing after 14 days even with the lifting of barangay Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to further ensure that the virus is contained.

As this is a new and good development for the barangay, Mayor Sara said, the city government is currently monitoring its neighbor barangay, Barangay 22, as it is emerging to be like Barangay 23-C.

The city government ensured that security and health protocols will continue to be strictly observed during the purok and household lockdown. Food and other necessities will be given to the affected residents. CIO
