The Davao City COVID-19 Task Force, through the Security and Safety Cluster, is intensifying its campaign against minimum public health standards (MPHS) violators.
Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the spokesperson of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force, said, “Padayon gihapon ang atong Security and Safety Cluster, reminding everyone nga they are intensifying the (issuance of) citation (tickets) for those not following the MPHS, especially sa barangay level (Our Security and Safety Cluster continues to intensify the issuance of citation tickets to who do not follow the MPHS, especially in the barangay level).
Schlosser, during the COVID-19 Alert program aired over 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, said Dabawenyos must be serious in adhering to the COVID-19 protocols of mandatory face mask wearing and frequent handwashing.
“In order not to be penalized ug maiwasan ang transmission of the disease, given that we still have cases in Davao City, magsunod gihapon ta sa MPHS (In order not to be penalized and prevent the transmission of the disease, given that we still have cases in Davao City, we must continue to follow the MPHS),” Schlosser said.
Davao City Ordinance No. 0307-20 stipulates that any person caught not wearing a face mask in public places shall be penalized with a fine of P500 for the first offense; P2,000 for the second offense; and P5,000 or one-month imprisonment for the third offense.
She also said that the Vaccination Cluster is intensifying the vaccination rollout in preparation for the upcoming Kadayawan sa Davao Festival and the full face-to-face classes.
The anti-COVID-19 vaccines, according to her, are beneficial and safe. They may not prevent infection from COVID-19 but they promise protection from the severity of the disease that may lead to death.
Meanwhile, City Health Office (CHO) Head Dr. Ashley Lopez, in a separate DCDR radio program, said Davao City logged 25 new fresh COVID-19 cases out of the 487 individuals who were swabbed in the past 48 hours.
The city, according to him, has a moving average of 32 new cases since Monday, July 18.
He also urged Dabawenyos to get vaccinated with the two-series and booster doses.
The Vaccination Cluster has also lined up mobile vaccinations in first, second, and congressional districts this week aside from the stationary vaccination sites in district health centers. CIO
