Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte bared that the donate button for Pahalipay food packages intended for people affected by Typhoon Odette on the SafeDavao QR website will run until January 15.

Speaking on Monday over the Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR), the city mayor said that following the rollout of the “donate” button in the application, which gives Dabawenyos the option whether to claim the gift packages or donate them to disaster-hit areas, several Dabawenyos have opted to give their gifts to those in need.

“Didto sa donate, makit-an nato kung kinsa to sila because naa silay assigned na tindahan depending on their address. Atoa ng kuhaon didto sa tindahan. I-collate nato ng tanan and karong January, ipahatod nato na siya didto sa areas nga naagian sa bagyong Odette (For the donated food packs, we can monitor it because they have assigned stores depending on their address. We will collate the donated grocery packs by January. We will give it to areas hit by Typhoon Odette),” Duterte said.

Earlier, the city government expanded the use of the Safe Davao QR from a mere contact tracing of possible COVID-19 infected individuals and prohibiting non-essential movement to social services and disaster assistance and now for the distribution of Christmas grocery packs.

The addition of the “donate” feature came after some Dabawenyos proposed to donate their Christmas gift instead to help victims of the typhoon.

“We prepare approximately two million grocery packs for those who registered as residents sa (in)Davao City sa atoang (to our) DQR,” Duterte said.

She stressed that the city will only pay for the grocery packs that were claimed or donated.

Asked whether the city has a drop-off point for Dabawenyos who would want to donate goods for the affected families aside from the Pahalipay, she said that she will coordinate this with the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

“We’ll take that up with the CSWDO just in case dunay mga tao nga ing-ana ang gusto maghatag sila og help and then ibilin lang diri sa drop off para sa Davao City which we can do hangtod next year kay ang atoang DQR donation, we intend to run it until January 15 (there are residents who would want to donate and help. They can drop it in the drop-off center in Davao City which we can accommodate until next year because the DQR donation will run until January 15),” she said.

For those who are interested to donate their Pahalipay, just log-in to https://profiles.safe-davao.com/ then click the Pahalipay option. The button with “Donate this Pahalipay” will appear below the Grocery Packs’ location and claim date.CIO
