The Davao City COVID-19 Task Force, through the Vaccination Cluster, will kick off the first booster rollout for the pediatric population 12 to 17 years old on Monday, July 4, 2022, at the city’s 18 district health centers, where inoculation for all other population age groups will also be held.
Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, in a Viber interview with the City Information Office (CIO) on Friday afternoon, July 1, revealed that they have already received the 12-17 booster rollout guidelines from the Department of Health (DOH).
She, however, said, “Ang 12 to 17 pwede didto sa district health offices pero pag once immunocompromised, dapat sa hospital gyud ka magpabakuna (The 12 to 17 can get their booster shots from the district health offices but if they are immunocompromised, they must get their boosters in the hospital).”
A vaccine team, according to her, will man the special site at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
For 12-17 vaccinees who will avail of the booster jabs, the city health official said they must bring their old vaccination card, DQR, parent’s consent, and ID card or any proof of age identification.
A medical certificate is required for immunocompromised individuals.
Dr. Schlosser said the pediatric 12-17 population group may opt for a different brand other than Pfizer for their booster doses or they can still choose the same brand as their primary doses.
She said the city has available vaccines except for Gamaleya Sputnik V. and Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen.
She also said the district health centers will open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but the usual cut-off will be at 3 p.m. while for SPMC, the vaccination hours will have yet to be determined.
She said that the vaccination team in each district health center will have medical personnel who will cater to the 12-17 years old, A1 (medical frontliners), A2 (senior citizens), A3 (adults with comorbidities), A4 (essential workers), A5 (indigents), and the general population needing primary doses, missed doses, and booster shots.
Another set of medical staff will administer the vaccination rollout for the five to 11 years old population age group to ensure their safety. CIO
