The Davao City Covid-19 Task Force Vaccination Cluster is preparing for the mobile anti-Covid vaccination rollout for the Moro communities in five proposed sites.

During the Covid-19 Alert program over the Davao City Disaster Radio Wednesday, Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the Spokesperson of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, said the mobile vaccination is in response to requests from the members of the Moro communities in the city to get the anti-Covid shots.

ā€œNagreach out na sa ato ang Muslim brothers and sisters, the Islam Community would want to be vaccinated naa ta’y lima ka proposed sites for them (Our Muslim brothers and sisters have reached out to us, the Islam Community would want to be vaccinated and we already have five proposed sites for them,ā€ Schlosser said.

She said the five sites are being prepared for the vaccination drive. Schlosser assured that the vaccination team already coordinated the vaccination drive will be following the Muslim religious practices.

ā€œAng ato lang atoa lang ginapreparahan nato karon, atong Muslim sisters naa sila’y special need with respect sa ilang religion that we have to abide, labi na tung women that they are not allowed to show parts of their body kasi like their shoulders (What we are preparing for now is the special needs of our Muslim sisters concerning their religion that we have to abide, especially women where they are not allowed to show parts of their body like shoulders),ā€ she added.

Previously, the Roman Catholic Church and the Iglesia Ni Kristo have rolled out their vaccination drive in support of the city government’s drive to inoculate more Dabawenyos in coordination with sectoral groups.

Sectoral vaccination roll-outs had been one of the methods of the city to ramp up the vaccination program. The city vaccination cluster has been open for collaboration with organized groups for vaccination of priority groups  A1-A5.  A sector only needs to put up its independent vaccination site and establish its teams.

Schlosser said the city is now able to accomplish 10,000 vaccinations per day and is also relying on the vaccines allocation for Davao City to continue the inoculation drive.

She said that apart from sectoral vaccinations, the teams spearheaded by Sangguniang Panlungsod members are helping through the mobile vaccination in barangays. The SP-led mobile vaccination is making a huge contribution to the city government’s vaccination drive.

As of August 21, 2021, the city already administered 507, 032 first doses and 305,553 for second doses.

The city targets to reach 1.2 million first doses by November and reach herd immunity. CIO
