With the positive reception of the public on Bakuna Nights, an evening vaccination drive of the city, a Davao City health official bared that it will soon roll out another site in the southern part of the city.
Speaking over the Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR), Davao City COVID-19 spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said that she raised the recommendation from a concerned citizen during the weekly COVID-19 meeting on Monday and it drew a positive response.
“I suggested it also sa COVID-19 Task Force last Monday and napag-usapan nga there might be another site of Bakuna Nights sa Toril. Hopefully, it will address sa south side napod nga trabahante (I suggested it to the COVID-19 Task Force last Monday and we have discussed that there might be another site of Bakuna Nights in Toril. Hopefully, it will address the vaccination need of workers in the south),” she said.
Currently, Bakuna Nights is available at San Roque Elementary School in Barrio Obrero, Davao City. The launching of this initiative aims to address the clamor of workers who cannot visit the vaccination hubs during the day.
With this, the city hopes to speed up the inoculation activity and address the backlog on vaccination to achieve herd immunity.
Schlosser said that she will announce the dates of the opening of the Bakuna Nights in Toril once the details have been finalized.
“In the days to come, I’ll be the one to update on this one apart from the vaccination cluster. Hopefully, mahitabo siya (it will push through),” she added.
Since October 1, the City Government of Davao has started giving away “incentives” to vaccinees in the form of raffle prizes such as gift certificates, among others. This is a strategy to encourage more Dabawenyos to avail the free vaccination program of the government.
The raffle promo is open to all walk-in clients who are 18 and above. Vaccinees are advised to bring their DQR card, valid ID, and a pen.
“Actually, the plan of the vaccination cluster is to continue it very Friday pero ubay-ubay gyud mi ug nadawat nga positive review na kung pwede i-every day nila kay murag nalipay ang mga tao (but, we have received positive reviews and favor to conduct raffle promo every day because it seems like the people are very happy),” she said.
She added, “We will raise this recommendation sa atong COVID Task Force but at the moment, every Friday nasabutan nga magpadayon siya nga activity. Hopefully, masabutan with mayor para mas daghan ang malipay sa atong activities (We will raise this recommendation to our COVID-19 Task Force. But at the moment, we will follow the schedule, which is every Friday. Hopefully, it will be discussed with the Mayor to give happiness to the vaccinees).”
The evening inoculation is open from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
In the latest report from the Davao City Vaccination Cluster as of October 2, Davao City has now recorded a total of 742,371 fully vaccinated residents while a total of 620,178 Dabawenyos have received their first dose of the anti-COVID-19 vaccine.CIO
