As the Davao City government accelerates anti-Covid vaccination for priority groups, two more vaccination sites opened at the San Roque Elementary School in Bo. Obrero, Lacson St, Poblacion District and the Don Juan Elementary School in Toril, Davao City.

With the total vaccination sites now at 20, the city government is targetting to increase jabs to 15,000 per day in a race to stem transmission of the more contagious Sars-CoV-2 variant – Delta.

The city government is also adding more health workers for deployment to the vaccination sites.

Earlier, Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said the City is in the process of hiring health workers for deployment to seven (7) more vaccination sites as the city aims to fast track and increase the inoculation of Dabawenyos against the coronavirus disease in the coming months.

Mayor Sara said the City Human Resource and Management Office HRMO) is expediting the hiring of the needed personnel for the seven additional vaccination sites to help in the city’s anti-Covid vaccination.

The mayor said the more vaccinated Dabawenyos means that fewer people will experience “severe and critical cases” and hospitals will be less likely to be overwhelmed with patients.

Based on the data of the vaccination cluster as of August 29, a total of 578,608 Dabawenyos have already received their first dose and 324,741 their second doses.

Besides the city government-run vaccination sites, the city also collaborated with various sectors for sectoral vaccination. It has tapped other local government officials to help in the mobile vaccination drive.

Last week the Spokesperson of the COVID-19 Task Force Dr. Michelle Schlosser said the city is preparing for the logistics required for the vaccination of the Moro communities.

Mobile vaccination in the area of responsibility of city councilors also continued, reaching more people and barangays.

The city government targets to inoculate 1.2 million Dabawenyos for the first dose by November. CIO
