The City Government of Davao has encouraged members of the vulnerable group to pre-register and get the anti-Covid vaccine at the  People’s Park where 700 slots are allotted per day.

Atty. Marlisa Gallo, the head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) said that some registered individuals changes mind and cancel on the spot or hesitate to be inoculated during the actual vaccination. The remaining slots can be given to walk-ins at the People’s Park.

“Ang mabilin na bakuna para sa walk-ins, naka-list naman ta daan sa particular sector, ang uban dili mudayon, muatras, maalanganin. Dili muabot ang kota nga 700 per day (we will give the remaining vaccines to walk-ins. We have pre-registered a particular sector but others do not come, or they refuse, or they hesitate. We do not reach 700 per day),” Gallo said.

Currently, the priority groups being catered at the People’s Park are members of the Badjao community, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, Magnegosyo Ta Day beneficiaries, Trabaho Dabawenyo beneficiaries, daycare parents, ambulant vendors, and beneficiaries of partner civil society groups, solo parents, drug dependents, and members of the Indigenous Peoples located within the city centers, and youth 18 above.

So far, 44 members from the Badjao community were catered as of September 1, 2021, and more than 600 Persons with Disabilities were catered based on the previous reports.

Those who seek to pre-register and wish to be prioritized for this roll-out may coordinate with their barangay social workers for assistance. The vaccination drive continues until the last week of September or maybe extended until October. CIO
