Starting Monday, February 21, the City Government of Davao will roll out its pediatric vaccination drive for 5 to 11 years old in three special jab sites.

The city government assigned the anti-Covid pediatric vaccination drive to the Davao City Recreation Center or Almendras Gym, the San Roque Elementary School in Bo. Obrero, Lacson St, Poblacion District and the Vicente Hizon Elementary School in Daang Maharlika Highway, Barangay Vicente Hizon, Sr., Buhangin Distict.

Before going to the vax sites, parents must register their children for DQR, bring identification or birth certificates for proof of their children’s age, and proof of relationship with the kids because parents or guardians need to sign consent for the vaccination.

In an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday, Davao City Covid-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser said the pediatric vaccination is open to the public.

“Ang ato lang gihangyo nga parents will register their children sa DQR and then bring IDs or birth certificate para ma prove na mao gyud ang edad sa bata na 5-11 and para ma prove also ang relationship with kids. Kay kung kinsa ang mouban sa bata they will be giving out consent sa vaccination (We request the parents to register their children to the DQR and bring their IDs or Birth Certificate to prove the age of the child, whether he/she is 5-11 years old. And, also to prove the (parents/guardians) relationship to the kids. Those who accompany the children are the ones who will give consent for the vaccination),” Schlosser said.

Schlosser assured that the city has enough vaccines for the rollout for the target of more or less 260,000 children 5 to 11 years old to be vaccinated.

She urged parents or guardians to encourage their children to get vaccinated.

Besides the three city government opened vax sites, pediatric vaccination is also available at the Southern Philippines Medical Center and Davao Medical School Foundation. Instructions for the pre-registration to these sites can be accessed on the City Government of Davao Facebook Page.

Schlosser said that the city is also negotiating with the Davao Doctor’s Hospital and the Seamen’s Hospital for public pediatric vaccination.

Davao City has initially started vaccinating children 5 to 11 years old on February 14 and has already inoculated a total of 1,688 children as of February 17. CIO
