With the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines in place, the City Government of Davao is just waiting for the logistics needed for the general pediatric vaccination rollout for 12 to 17 years old, with or without comorbidities.
Davao City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, during the Bida Bakunado program of 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR), said what was recently launched at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) was the pediatric with comorbidities innoculation and for dependents of hospital frontliners.
“Nagahulat nalang ta sa mga logistics kinahanglan nato para mahatag na sa mga without comorbidities. Kung muabot natong logistics na kinahanglan nato nga pambata na mga BP apparatus and weighing scale, masugdan na pud dayon nato ni sila (We are just waiting for the logistics needed for the pediatric vaccinees without comorbidities. Once the logistics arrive, such as the BP apparatus and weighing scale for children, we can start the rollout),” she said.
The city health official has observed a growing interest among minors, including those without comorbidities, to get vaccinated.
She added, “Apart sa (from) adults, we are still looking for more vaccination hubs para sa atong kabataan (for our minors).”
Dr. Schlosser, however, said that the Davao COVID-19 Task Force is intensifying its strategies to achieve herd immunity within its target set at the end of November 2021 considering that the number of vaccinees in regular vaccination hubs is decreasing.
She added that they are focusing on the door-to-door and sweeping mobile vaccination programs courtesy of the Vice Mayor’s Office and the city councilors’ offices as the Davao COVID-19 Task Force and City Health Office have also observed that it is more effective and convenient for people to be inoculated in their homes and barangays.
“Duha atong target ani, ma-edukar sila at the same time convenient sa ilaha. Some of them medyo naa pay kahadlok o doubt sa bakuna (We have two targets here, educating them at the same time it’s convenient for them. Some of them are still fearful and doubtful of the vaccine),” Dr. Schlosser said.

If there is any difficulty to register via text, she advised residents to raise their concerns to the barangay officials.
Meanwhile, the Bakuna Nights continue to be operational in strategic locations in the city.
As of October 28, 2021, Davao City has administered a total of 828,818 first doses and 788,001-second jabs. CIO
