Davao City hit 64.2 percent of the 1.2 million target herd immunity for its anti-COVID-19 first dose vaccination rollout, with at least 770,925 individuals inoculated as of October 5, 2021.
Of the 779,925 first dose vaccinees, 53.85 percent of the herd immunity target, or 646,248 are fully vaccinated.
In the Davao COVID-19 Task Force Vaccination Cluster report, essential workers or those who belong to priority group A4 had the highest turnout with 372,757 vaccinees. Of this number, 321,935 are fully vaccinated.
About 170,571 adults with comorbidities (priority A3) received their first jabs and 148,174 of them have completed their second doses.
Also receiving first doses were 91,673 senior citizens (priority A2) and
85,365 of them are fully vaccinated; 74,488 indigents (priority A5) and 36,609 got their second jabs; and 61,436 health care workers (priority A1) and 54,165
of them already had their second anti-COVID-19 shots.
Intending to reach the 15,000 daily target of vaccinees, the City Government of Davao and the Davao COVID-19 Task Force expanded the vaccination rollout with the launch of the Bakuna Nights at the San Roque Elementary School on October 1, 2021 to encourage workers to get immunized after their usual 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. duty hours every day.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP)-led mobile vaccinations are also being intensified to cater to more residents in the city’s barangays while regular vaccination hubs continue to be open to cater to more Dabawenyos who want to be inoculated.
At least 1,567 individuals were administered their first doses in mobile vaccinations spearheaded by the Office of the Vice Mayor (OVM) and the city councilors as of October 5.
The sectoral group vaccinations headed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), however, are now wrapping up. From September 27 to October 1, a total of 3,831 were served at People’s Park – 1,004 from the youth sector; 934 women; 379 drivers; 203 construction workers; 139 daycare parents; 79 government employees; 75 vendors; 73 PWDs, 72 seniors; 43 solo parents; 42 from the Badjao community; and 788 walk-ins.
CSWDO head Atty. Marlisa Gallo said the orderly vaccination at People’s Park is still ongoing and open to all sectors. Her staff reported to her though that the past two days had a low turnout of vaccinees.
Davao COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser, in an interview on October 7, said sectoral vaccinations are almost done.
“Atong target mag go na sa mga districts. Mag go na per barangay ang mobile vaccinations kay dili tanan karong vaccination hubs naa pay tao. Atong buhaton karon kay vaccination sa barangay (We target to go to the districts. We will go to each barangay for the mobile vaccination since not all vaccination hubs still have vaccinees. What we will do is conduct the vaccination in the barangays), bring the vaccination nearest to the people,” Dr. Schlosser said. CIO
