The lifting of the food and medicine (FM) pass and the curfew hour may have eased movements but Dabawenyos need to continue observing the health protocols for everybody’s protection against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
It is everyone’s responsibility to follow the protocols as we ride the same boat – we call the “Davao Boat” in our fight against Covid-19, Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said.
“Ang gusto nato masabtan sa mga tao ang ilahang responsibilities. Because we are all in the same boat, Davao boat. Everyone has a task to do. Otherwise kung dili ninyo buhaton ang inyuhang task, malunod ang atoang barko (We want the Dabawenyos to understand their responsibilities. We are all in the same boat – the Davao boat. Everyone has a task to do. If you don’t do your task, our boat will sink),” she said.
The mayor urged Dabawenyos to imagine themselves carrying the healthcare workers on their shoulders.
“Kung naay isa nga dili mokarga sa ilaha, mayabo, motakilid ang atoang barko (If no one carries them our boat will sink). What do we mean when we say carrying them on our shoulders – these are, stay at home, wearing masks in public places, physical distancing, and handwashing,” the Mayor added.
Mayor Sara was concerned that people get too excited and forget about the health protocols especially the holiday season is approaching.
Mayor Sara urged Dabwenyos to make the four health measures as part of their daily habit because these are the only ways to protect against Covid-19 for now. CIO
