Close to 160 residents were inoculated with the anti-COVID-19 vaccine and received packs of rice in Barangay Tamugan, Marilog District during the special mobile vaccination conducted by the Vaccination Cluster of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force in the area.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the spokesperson of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force, said they rolled out the mobile vaccination headed by City Health Office (CHO) Technical Division Chief Dr. Julinda Acosta and Vaccination Cluster Head Dr. Joy Villafuerte in Barangay Tamugan with the city’s partner, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
“Approximately, 150 to 160 ka tao ang atong nabakunahan, labi na gyud sa mga bata. We have seen a lot of pediatric individuals didto. Gikalipay gyud nato no kay gusto nato mapataas ang number of vaccinated children na five to 11 years old (Approximately, we vaccinated around 150 to 160 individuals, especially children. We have seen a lot of pediatric individuals there. We are very happy since we wanted to increase the number of vaccinated children aged between five to 11 years old),” she said.
She thanked Tamugan Barangay Chairman Diomedes dela Cruz and Barangay Councilor Edwin Kawaling, the barangay health workers, and the rest of the barangay officials for their support to make the mobile vaccination successful.
The city health official said they only expected that a few people will go to the Tamugan Barangay Hall for the vaccination considering the distance from most homes.
“Daghan-daghan gyud nangadto. Actually, we are expecting man lang gyud 100 kay bukid baya unya geographically isolated nga lugar. Ang ubang lugar baktasonon, layo pa gyud kaayo. Nalipay mi nakabakuna mi around 150-160, mao’y kunswelo ba sa among mga effort. Naga-continue pa ta karon kung naa pa’y muabot (A lot came today. Actually, we were expecting at least a 100 since they come from far-flung or geographically isolated areas. Some areas can only be walked, and they are too far. We are happy to have vaccinated around 150-160 as a consolation for our efforts. We continue with our vaccination, waiting for other vaccinees),” she added.
Dr. Schlosser also said that the mobile vaccination in Tamugan catered to all age groups including five to 11, 12 to 17, and 18-above, whether they are availing of the primary, missed, or booster doses.
A medical checkup was also conducted on the residents as part of the mobile vaccination program with USAID.
A health educator also talked to the vaccinees before the start of the rollout, informing them of the benefits of the anti-COVID-19 vaccines.
All vaccinees each received a kilo of rice as an incentive from the City Government of Davao. She said the rice incentive is available in all operational vaccination hubs in the city.
The vaccinees were also served hot porridge courtesy of the City Mayor’s Office and the Vice Mayor’s Office, and local government offices that also backed the mobile vaccination. CIO
