The Davao City government will boost the district health centers with vaccination teams for the anti-Covid jabs starting in July, making the immunization against the coronavirus more accessible to the general public.
Moving the anti-Covid vaccination activities to the district health centers paves the way for the wrapping up of the public vaccination sites located in the malls, parks, and one school by the end of the month.
This was announced by Davao City Vaccination Cluster Head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte in an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio on Wednesday. Villafuerte said that they aim to wrap up the public vaccination sites and start the anti-Covid vaccination at the district health centers by July 4, 2022.
“I-turn over nato siya (vaccination) sa atoang district centers pagkatapos ang atoang vaccination team ibutang sa district offices (We will hand over the vaccinations to our district centers and our vaccination teams will be divided to the district offices),” she said.
She said that the teams now assigned at the 12 public vaccination hubs, of which nine (9) are in the malls, two (2) inside parks, and one (1) in a school (Calinan Elementary School), will be assigned to the 18 health districts.
“Mas nearer sa tao (ang vaccination) and masuyod ang mga barangays (The vaccination centers will now be nearer to the public and the barangays will be closely catered),” she said.
According to Villafuerte, one difference in the district vaccination rollout is that the district health centers will only cater to individuals under their district.
It is also now up to district health center vaccination teams to schedule the rollout for barangay vaccinations.
“Ang district health center, sila na maghimo og strategy, unsa nga adlaw ug pila ka adlaw sa isa ka barangay (They will be the ones to come up with the strategy what day they will vaccinate and how many days in one barangay),” Villafuerte said.
Villafuerte assured Dabawenyos that the supplies and equipment are adequate for each district. Walk-ins are allowed and no pre-registration will be required for as long as the vaccinees will bring the vaccination cards/certificates and identification.
Villafuerte said the anti-Covid vaccines are still administered at the malls and parks until the end of the month – June 30, 2022.
“Pwede pa magpabakuna pero start sa July didto na sila tanan didto sa district (The public as of the moment are still allowed to be vaccinated in the sites however, starting July they will be catered to the district),” she said. CIO
