After completing the mandatory 14-day quarantine, the 79 Local Stranded Individuals (LSIs) will be sent home on Saturday, August 15. They were among the group of the second Hatid-Tulong Initiative (HTI) of the national government that arrived in Davao City on July 31.
The 79 LSIs are the second batch released from the Lasang quarantine facility. The first batch of 85 LSIs was sent home on August 11. All of them have been swabbed upon their arrival in July at the Lasang checkpoint and tested negative.
The 14-day quarantine has been required for all arriving LSIs, Overseas Filipinos, and Overseas Filipino Workers travelling from other cities and provinces in Luzon and Visayas to ensure they will not infect their loved ones of the coronavirus.
Angel Sumagaysay, the head of the Public Safety Security and Command Center (PSSCC), said that 63 of the 79 LSIs will be ferried to their homes while others have arranged for their pick-up from the Lasang quarantine facility.
So far, Sumagaysay said, he is not expecting arrivals of LSIs under HTI any time soon. CIO
