The City Government of Davao is currently home isolating 365 Covid-19 positive patients.
Davao City Mayor Inday Sara, during the 87.5 Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) Special Hours program aired on Monday afternoon, September 20, said the city is enforcing the same action plan of testing, tracing, quarantining or isolation, and treatment of Covid-19 patients.
“Yes, the same ang atoang action plan whether gamay ang cases o daghan ang cases. It’s the same wala sya gibag-o sa atoang Department of Health ug IATF. That’s how we manage our cases, gidungagan lang nato og home isolation. We have approximately 365 patients on home isolation (It’s the same action plan whether we have a low or high number of cases. It’s the same, there were no changes from the Department of Health and the Inter-Agency Task Force. We added home isolation and management of the dead),” the mayor said.
Covid-19 patients undergoing home isolation are being remotely assisted by the Davao COVID-19 Task Force.
She said a collated guide from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the DOH, and the response cluster of the Davao COVID-19 Task Force is being rolled out for home isolation in the city’s communities and barangays.
“Kung asa sila mag-isolate, kinahanglan mag-mask mga tao sa sulod, dunay own bedroom og CR. They’ll be given CPAT kits para ma monitor ang ilang oxygenation levels and drinking vitamins, which mao ra gyud ang kinahanglan sa asymptomatic og mild cases (Wherever they home isolate, people inside their homes must also wear face masks, and COVID-19 patients have own bedroom and CR. They’ll be given Caring for Patients Awaiting Transport kits to help monitor their oxygenation levels and that they are drinking vitamins as these are what asymptomatic cases need),” Mayor Duterte said.
The District Health Offices will determine who will qualify for home isolation based on the collated guide once regular isolation centers and temporary treatment and monitoring facilities (TTMFs) are fully occupied.
The current surge resulted in the activation of the home isolation. As of September 19, Davao City has 9,728 COVID-19 active cases of the total 46,530 since March 2020, with 35,530 total recoveries and 1,380 deaths.
Mayor Duterte said the management of the dead was added to the city’s COVID-19 management response, saying, “Dunay expectation nga dunay mamatay during a surge of cases because daghan matakdan. And usually when there’s a surge of cases maoverwhelm ang mga hospitals. As much as they wan’t to save everyone, dili jud na sya mahitabo with our limited capacity of our health cares system (There is an expectation that there will be deaths during a surge of cases because many will be infected. And usually, when there’s a surge of cases, hospitals are overwhelmed. As much as they want to save everyone, it’s impossible with the limited capacity of our health care system).”
She said a private donor gave a 40-footer refrigerated van as an additional SPMC morgue, which can accommodate 108 remains.
In the city’s morbidity week 37, of the 73 deaths, 87 percent were unvaccinated while nine deaths were vaccinated.
Of the vaccinated deaths, five received first jabs and the other four were fully vaccinated. Four vaccinated deaths got Pfizer shots, two were administered with Sinovac vaccine, another two with AstraZeneca, and one got Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The mayor reiterated her call to the public to get their scheduled vaccine jabs regardless of the brand. CIO
