A total of 18,895 senior citizens, persons with special needs, solo parents, and other members of the informal sector have received the anti-Covid vaccination from August 18 to September 30 at People’s Park, according to the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
In an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday, Mae Aquino, the Focal Person of the CSWDO Community Welfare Program Focal, said the city government health teams have administered anti-Covid vaccines to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, drug reformists, members of the Badjao community, and other members of the informal sector (drivers, vendors, and construction workers).
She noted the big improvement in the number of individuals catered daily for the vaccination. She said that 700 individuals are catered daily in September from 200 in August when the program started.
āAs of today, nitaas na gyud ni sya no dili nata mokunhod sa 700 matag adlaw, adunay mga adlaw na mulapas ta og 1,000, so naay isa ka adlaw na miabot gyud mi ug 1,400, piluon na kaduha ang maserbisyohan mao to nga ang hagit lang is kadtong dungagan nato ang workforce sa vaccination site nato (As of today, we can cater not lower than 700 daily. There are days when we exceed 1,000. There was even a day that we reached 1,400, which is twice the number of our target individuals. It is a challenge as we need to increase the workforce in our vaccination site),ā Aquino said. She was hoping that the workforce will increase to cater to the big number of individuals.
Aquino attributed the increase of the vaccination turn-out in the area due to the information drive in the communities, especially in areas where residents are still not convinced to be vaccinated.
She said that people who prefer different brands other than what is available on the site were advised to find vaccination sites that administers their preferred vaccines.
āGihatagan nato sila sa katungod sa pagpili asa sila komportable. (We give them the right to choose where they are most comfortable)ā Aquino said.
