The Davao City Business Bureau Office reported an increase in the number of applicants for business permits in the city.

As of September 25, the number of applicants for both new and renewal of business permits reached 49,563, surpassing last year’s 49,326, according to Ms. Maribel Paguican, head of the City Business Bureau.

Paguican also told the Madayaw Program over the city-owned Davao City Disaster Radio on Tuesday, that as of September 25, they have successfully issued 44,223 business permits.

“Almost napud nato na-surpass ang atoang 2022 kay 44,935 ang atoang naisyuhan last year (In 2022, we issued a total of 44,935 permits. We are close to surpassing it),” she added.

Inspections of business establishments have also become more high-tech as the office currently has three devices used for real-time documentation.

“Naa mi app nga ginagamit ug device nga automatic mu-capture kinsa ilang kaistorya didto, asa ang location, unsa na’ng mga detalye, automatically malabay sa office. Hopefully, ma-gain nato ang confidence sa atoang mga business establishment nga ang atoang siyudad naga-advance gyud dili lang to protect them but to protect also our institution (We use an app and a device that automatically sends the location, details, and people involved during the inspection. Hopefully, this will help gain the confidence of our business establishments that our city is using advanced technology not only to protect the business owners but also our institution),” she said.

Paguican said that they are continually working on improving the streamlining of the process for the registration of business as it is their goal to make Davao City the pioneer in the ease of doing business.

The office is also mandated to capacitate barangays through training to make business registration more accessible. Kiosks will be established once the barangays are fully armed with the proper knowledge of the processes.

Paguican also encouraged business owners to register their businesses, either online or on-site. They are also reminding business owners to prepare the necessary documents for the renewal of permits next year to make the process easier. CIO
