Point Blank emerged as the grand champion of the 86th Araw ng Dabaw Bands Clash held at San Pedro Square on March 18, 2023. The band won the P200,000 cash prize and trophy after beating nine other finalists in the event that aimed to showcase Dabawenyos’ musical talents.
Point Blank received the award from celebrity singer Geneva Cruz, Karen Pascual, and City Tourism Operations Office officer-in-charge Jennifer Romero.
The Dukes copped the runner-up honors to receive P100,000, which was awarded by multi-awarded artist Ice Seguerra, while The Champs placed third to settle for P75,000.
The Champs, however, swept two special awards, adding P60,000 to their winnings.
The Champs won the People’s Choice Award, which came with a cash prize of P30,000, for receiving the most likes and reactions on the Araw Ng Dabaw – Bands Clash 2023 Facebook page. The band also took home the Best Styling Award, worth P30,000, for showcasing exceptional creativity, originality, and fashion sense.
Meanwhile, SSNTHC also received P30,000 for clinching the Best Vocal Performance Award. The award was given to the band whose singing abilities demonstrated exceptional talent, skill, and artistry. It did not just highlight vocal prowess but also the ability to connect with the audience and convey the meaning and feeling behind the lyrics.
City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) officer-in-charge Jennifer Romero awarded the prizes to the special awardees.
Hundreds of spectators came to witness the competition, which was spiced up by the performances of Seguerra, Oh! Caraga, and homegrown artists Querubin Llavore, Ralph Merced, Febie Grace Lastimosa, Mackie Dojo, and Jason Balibay. CIO
