The City Government of Davao, through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO), has lined up 27 events for the 86th Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival – in partnership with various local sports organizations.
SDD-CMO officer-in-charge Mikey Aportadera said the Araw sportsfest will resume after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The sportsfest will start on March 3. The events will be from highlands to coast and everything in between,” he said.
The open women’s volleyball (Davao City National High School) and table tennis (NCCC Mall Buhangin) will jumpstart the month-long sportsfest on March 3 to 5 along with the doubles tennis championships (Ecoland Phase 4 Tennis Club) on March 3 to 5 and 10 to 13.
The mixed trio bowling is slated on March 4 at the Dover Mega Lanes and on the same day, the ultimate frisbee competition will also unfurl at the Davao Crocodile Park football field until March 5.
Meanwhile, woodpushers will assemble at The Peak of the Gaisano Mall of Davao on March 4-5 and 11-12 for the students’ rapid chess championships as the international marathon hits the road on March 5 at the People’s Park.
